In doing some more reading about the moringa tree as noted in last week’s posting, I came across this passage from Exodus 15: “When [the people of Israel] came to Marah, they could not drink the water because it was bitter…. And the people murmured against Moses, saying “What shall we drink?” And he cried to the Lord; and the Lord showed him a tree, and he threw it into the water, and the water became sweet.” (vs. 23-25)
The resource I was studying suggested that the tree involved in this story may have been the moringa, as these trees (especially the seeds) are known to have properties useful for filtering and purifying water. The story is a great testimony to the surprising ways God provides, and makes me wonder what other surprises are in store for those who live with open eyes and hearts.
